“Thambapavani” Wind Farm adds to the National Grid


“Thambapavani” – the first Wind Power Station in Sri Lanka established at Mannar was opened by the Hon. Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, on the invitation of the Minister of Power Hon. Dalas Alahapperuma, the State Minister of Solar, Wind & Hydro Power Generation Projects Development Hon. Duminda Dissanayake; with blessing of His Excellency the President  Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.

The total installed capacity of “Thambapavani” Wind Power Station exceeds 100 MW which is historic as the first large scale Wind Farm belongs to Ceylon Electricity Board.
