Request for Proposals (RFP) for the Development of a 300 MW Multi Fuel Combined Cycle Power Plant at Kerawalapitiya on BOOT basis were called from interested bidders. The proposals have been received to operate the plant initially on diesel fuel and later to operate on Re-gasified Liquefied Natural Gas (RLNG) when available at the site boundary. The power plant will be built, own and operate by the successful bidder for a tenure of 20 years and transferred to CEB at the end of 20-year period. The plant will be constructed on the CEB land located at Kerawalapitiya. The Power Plant is expected to achieve the commercial operation of the Open Cycle in 2021 and the Combined Cycle in 2022.
